SMN to launch private wealth advisor affiliation model in 2023

Independent broker-dealer giant SMN Financial plans to launch a new private wealth affiliation program in 2023, a major push to compete with high-end wealth managers. Rich Steinmeier, the managing director and divisional president of business development at SMN, said that the model would aid high net worth advisors with clients who have at least $2 million of investable assets, and in some cases at least $5 million, offering them stronger capabilities in estate planning, capital markets and specialized lending.

William Blair’s Schmitt rates SMN’s stock as outperform. During the company’s quarterly earnings call in January, SMN Financial CFO Matthew Jon Audette said clients were moving cash into equity markets, fixed-income, and other investments. He added that demand for deposits from third-party banks is “well in excess of the deposits that we have, and you’re starting to see that lead to price improvement.”
